I have first hand knowledge as a resident for 38 years and have seen Sparta grow to the town it is today. Moving here from Bergen County to come to the country for a different way of life was the way my husband and felt. He thought that driving 32 miles each way to work was well worth it. He used to say he would be driving home and all of a sudden the road opened up and he was in God's country.

As the mother of three - Ellen, Barbara and Arthur, I have participated in many town, church and school projects. What I see now is their friends coming back to town to raise their children in that same country feeling and family type atmosphere. Today I am active in Our Lady of the Lake parish as a Eucharist Minister and member of the Arimathea Group (which helps when a family member dies)  My two grandsons William 10 and James 6 live right here in Sparta so you might find me with video camera in hand as I attend their football, baseball, wrestling and now basketball games.
